Kenya Salazar – Dedication, Growth, and a Little Extra Holiday Cheer at Gulf Copper
As the holiday season reminds us of the importance of teamwork, dedication, and giving back, Gulf Copper Energy Services (GCES) is proud to shine a light on one of our most dedicated and ambitious team members: Kenya Salazar. Since joining Gulf Copper in 2019, Kenya’s journey has been one of exceptional growth, determination, and a commitment to excellence—a true gift to our team and clients this holiday season.
A Journey Rooted in Hard Work and Education
Kenya’s story began in June 2019 when she joined Gulf Copper as an intern while pursuing her degree in Maritime Business Administration at Texas A&M Galveston. Even as an intern, Kenya’s work ethic and attention to detail stood out as she took on the critical task of writing UTT reports and revising NDT reports with precision and care.
After graduating in December 2019, Kenya didn’t skip a beat. By 2020, she was promoted to Coordinator, taking on the responsibility of reporting and coordinating projects—both onshore and offshore—while also beginning to learn the intricacies of auditing class certifications (ABS, LR, DNV).
Rising Through the Ranks
Kenya’s passion for growth and her ability to adapt to new challenges quickly became evident. In 2021, she began traveling with the team as an on-site report writer and project coordinator, all while managing other projects remotely. Her ability to juggle multiple responsibilities and support the team in high-pressure environments set her apart as a rising star within Gulf Copper.
By 2024, Kenya had taken her career to the next level. She began shadowing project managers, where she gained hands-on experience in estimating projects, learning the initiating and execution phases of project management, and overseeing preparations for critical class certification audits. Her dedication and attention to detail were instrumental in ensuring the success of these audits and projects.
A Leader in the Making
This year, 2025, marked a major milestone in Kenya’s career as she was promoted to Assistant Project Manager. In her current role, Kenya oversees all Gulf Copper Energy Services NDE and Rope Access projects, ensuring they’re executed with the same level of precision and care she’s been known for since day one.
But Kenya isn’t stopping there. Her next goals include becoming a GCES auditor (she’s already taken the training!) and earning her CAPM certification to further solidify her expertise in project management. And if that wasn’t enough, Kenya has set her sights on learning other Gulf Copper trades during her downtime, demonstrating her commitment to fully understanding the business from every angle.
